Frequently Asked Questions

What is your photography style?

I define my style as candid, bright, and honest. I want you to look back these images of you and remember exactly how you felt during our session. I feel like those images are more powerful than a stiff photo of everyone looking at the camera.   My editing style is bright and timeless so when I am creating the finished product for you, I like to have it look the way it did at that time.

Do I need to bring anything to the session?

If your child really likes bringing their lovey or they are really into a specific toy or book, feel free to bring it! I can bring out a beautiful side of your children with some of their favorite comfort things.

We will likely have a variety of standing, sitting, and movement poses. For the sitting poses, I typically keep a couple of blankets in my car and am happy to use it at your session unless you have a favorite blanket you’d like to use!

Where do the shoots take place?

I am happy to meet you at a nearby park, your house, your backyard, or any place that is meaningful to you. I am located in Silver Spring, MD but I am available for travel. An additional fee may be added to the session if traveling farther than 20 miles outside of 20910. I am a natural light photographer so lighting is a defining factor of my style of photography.

Keep in mind that outdoor shoots will need to take place within 90 minutes of sunrise or sunset for the most flattering light. For in-home sessions, we will work in the rooms of your home that let in the most light, typically late morning around 9:30 or 10:00am. I have most availability on Saturdays and Sundays but please contact me if this does not fit your schedule and we will make it work for a weekday session :-)

What can I expect during my session?

You can expect to have fun and enjoy playing and being with your family. I will get to know you and photograph the connection, interactions, and love during your session. We won’t force the kids to say cheese or be stiff for the camera, but I will lightly pose and direct you to have natural interactions. Part of what I really enjoy about being a family photographer is spending time with children and capturing them just the way they are. I have tips and tricks up my sleeve to get them to interact naturally, so no need to worry if your child is not "behaving nice" or "on their best behavior" because there are fun ways to encourage natural interaction.

What should we wear?

Wear anything that feels comfortable and natural to you. It's helpful to pick 2-3 colors and coordinate outfits around those colors, without being "matchy matchy". I would encourage you to stay away from combining too many textures or patterns, clothing with large logos/words/distracting photos, all white or all black clothing, or all white tops/khaki pants where everyone looks identical. Feel free to add pops of color. For children, fitted clothing is more flattering in photos than loose, baggy clothing. Feel free to bring an outfit change or options if you'd like! If you'd like ideas, check out my Pinterest Board. Be comfortable and wear something that represents you!

What can I expect after my session?

Within 48 hours I will post a sneak peek gallery on my photography page- please be sure to "like" and "follow" me on Facebook here. I will start editing as soon as possible and get images to you no later than two weeks.

How will I get my images?

During your session I will take many images and hand pick best images to include in your gallery. Within two weeks you will receive your session gallery that is accessible through a password protected gallery link. Your gallery link can be shared with friends and family. The images are yours to use, share, and print. In order to preserve the integrity of the images and my work, please do not crop, edit, or add filters to the images. Although not mandatory, tagging Tabitha Maegan Photography on social media is always appreciated.

Do you offer prints?

Yes you can order them right from your online gallery!

How do I book a session?

Yay! You can book either on my contact page or via e-mail at hello@tabithamaeganphoto.com. As soon as I get your inquiry I will follow up via e-mail (or phone call if you prefer) to discuss what kind of session you are looking for. If there are images you have seen online that inspire you, please send them my way and we can discuss how to incorporate the ideas into our session. A $150 retainer and signed contract are required to hold your session date.
