Those first couple of days with a new baby are so beautiful and also they can be a bit of a blur with everything going on. You’re tired, you’re probably tired of being in your hospital gown and want to shower in your own home, you’re learning your new baby’s little noises and figuring out how their feeding schedule. And not only that you may have now added to your family, and have two or three littles to take care of!
What is a Fresh 48 photography session?
A Fresh 48 session is a relaxed photography session during your baby's first 48 hours, usually right in your hospital room. I'll come to you and document the little things that you'll swear you'll remember forever but somehow forget- the tiny fingers, toes, and wrinkled skin, the hospital bracelets, the first cuddles, the first sibling interaction, and the first time grandparents get to meet the new baby. These sessions are designed to capture the first few moments with your family and new baby.
What happens during your Fresh 48 session?
When I arrive to your hospital room, I’ll fully congratulate your family, as this is a huge milestone! We will slowly settle into taking photos and taking everything in. I’ll gently guide you when needed, but I’ll usually be documenting the little moments, diaper changes, cuddles.
Fresh 48 sessions can include siblings, grandparents, detail shots, feeding, and your baby simply being a perfect new beautiful baby. We will photograph baby in the bassinet, hospital blanket, and being held by family members.
Can siblings and grandparents be included?
Of course! If you have older children, I want them included in the story of your baby's first days too. We'll make time for sibling photos as well as photos of everyone together. Grandparents and other family members can also be included when they're visiting during your session.
We'll keep things flexible because hospital visits don’t always go exactly according to plan!
When should I book my Fresh 48 photographer?
The best time to reserve your Fresh 48 session is during pregnancy. We know babies come when they want to, so you don't need an exact session date when you book.
We'll reserve your session around your due date. Once your baby arrives, you'll let me know within 24 hours and we'll figure out the best time for me to come to the hospital during your stay.
What if my baby comes early or late?
We will be in touch as you get closer to your due date.
Once your baby arrives, just let me know as soon as you can and we'll go from there.
Fresh 48 vs. an in-home newborn session
They're similar in that both are relaxed, lifestyle-focused sessions, but they document two completely different parts of your baby's story.
Fresh 48’s happen during those first couple of days, usually in the hospital. It's about your baby's arrival, those tiny brand-new details, and the first moments of your family together.
An in-home newborn session happens once you're home. Your baby is a little more settled, you're beginning to figure out your new routine, and we can photograph your family in the place where you're actually going to spend these first weeks together.
Some families love booking both of these sessions because the photos tell two completely different parts of the story.

Fresh 48 sessions are $1,125 + Maryland sales tax. Your session includes the photography experience and 50+ high-resolution digital images, along with a complimentary 10x8 heirloom album so you have something tangible to hold onto beyond your digital gallery. A $300 retainer reserves your Fresh 48 session around your due date.

How long is a Fresh 48 session?
Sessions are usually around one hour. I'll give you plenty of time to settle in, feed your baby, take breaks, and enjoy your family without rushing through everything.
Do you come to the hospital?
I do! Fresh 48 sessions are photographed in your hospital room or birth center, depending on where you deliver.
Do I need to have my baby dressed?
Baby can be in a hospital swaddle, diaper, going-home outfit, or whatever they're wearing when I arrive.
What if my hospital has photography restrictions?
We'll follow your hospital or birth center's policies and any restrictions they have around photography.
When will I receive my photos?
Your finished gallery will be delivered within two weeks of your session so you can download, share, and print your images.
Can I book both Fresh 48 and newborn photos?
Absolutely! Fresh 48 captures those first couple of days, while an in-home newborn session documents your family once you're home. They make a really beautiful pair!

Fresh 48 sessions are especially special to me because there’s just nothing quite like those first hours with your baby. You’re figuring each other out, everyone is probably a little tired, and somehow time is moving way too fast. I want you to be able to remember what those days actually felt like.
We’ll photograph the little details, the baby snuggles, the new-parent moments, siblings meeting their new baby, and all of those tiny things you may not realize you’ll want to remember until they’re already gone. You get to snuggle your baby and I’ll take care of the photos.
