What to Expect from Your Mini Session
Thank you so much for booking your session with me! I’m so excited to capture this special season for your family.
My approach to photography is relaxed, fun, and centered around connection. During your session, you can expect movement, laughter, and real moments instead of perfectly posed smiles.
This guide will help you feel prepared so your session can be easy, laid-back, and enjoyable.
A Note About Mini Sessions
Mini sessions are short and simple, so we focus less on perfection and more on connection.
Because of the limited time, I’ll guide your session efficiently so we can capture a variety of images in a seamless flow. We’ll move through family groupings, mom with the kids, dad with the kids, siblings, and individual portraits so you leave with a full gallery that reflects your family as a whole.
Some images will include everyone looking at the camera, but that is not the main focus. The goal is to document your family as you are-connected, relaxed, and in the moment.
I’ll guide you throughout, but nothing will feel overly posed or interrupted. Just embrace your family I’ll take care of everything else.
Preparing for Your Session
WHAT TO WEAR
Choose outfits that feel comfortable and true to you. Coordinating colors work best rather than matching exactly. Try to avoid large logos or distracting patterns.
If your little one has strong opinions about what they wear, lean into it! Happy kids always photograph better than frustrated ones.
You can also check out the What to Wear Guide for more ideas.
Day of Your Session
ARRIVE EARLY
Plan to arrive about 10–15 minutes early so you have time to park, settle in, and start without feeling rushed.
KEEP IT LOW STRESS
Give yourself extra time to get ready and keep the day leading up to your session fairly relaxed if you can.
FULL BELLIES HELP
Make sure everyone has eaten beforehand. Snacks and water for little ones are always a good idea.
During Your Session
Your only job is to be present with your family.
You can hold the little ones, and engage and respond naturally. I’ll guide you into good light and give gentle direction when needed, but I won’t force moments.
You don’t need to tell your child to smile or look at the camera, I’ll take care of the direction. Some of the most meaningful images come from the in between moments.
A Few Helpful Reminders
Please trust me to take the lead during your session. I’ll engage your child when needed and guide things naturally so nothing feels forced.
Try to avoid asking your child to “say cheese” or repeatedly telling them to look at the camera. This can create pressure and take away from natural moments.
Bribes (like snacks or treats) can also be distracting during the session, so I recommend saving those for afterward.
If your child needs a moment to warm up, that’s completely okay—we’ll work with their energy and make it fun for them.
After Your Session
Within one week of your session, you’ll receive a proofing gallery where you can view your images and choose your favorites.
Your session includes a set number of images, and you’ll select the ones you love most from your gallery.
Many families find it hard to narrow it down and choose to upgrade so they don’t have to leave any favorite moments behind. If you’d like more images, you’ll have the option to upgrade your selection or purchase the full gallery directly from your gallery.
Thank You
I’m so honored you chose me to photograph your family. I can’t wait to capture these moments for you!
See you soon,
Tabitha
